Terms of Use

1. About Aaka

Aaka is open-source software licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0), available at github.com/prasadgupte/aaka-life. These Terms of Use govern your use of the Aaka software and the aaka.life website.

2. Self-hosted software

Aaka is self-hosted software. By installing and running Aaka, you are operating your own instance of the software on your own infrastructure. You are responsible for:

The security and integrity of your installation.
Compliance with applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
Proper handling of the personal data of people who use your Aaka instance.
Managing your own API keys, OAuth credentials, and access tokens.

3. Google API usage

Aaka integrates with Google APIs (Calendar, Tasks, Gmail) via OAuth 2.0. By using these integrations you agree to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Aaka's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4. Open-source licence

The Aaka software is released under the AGPL-3.0 licence. You are free to use, modify, and distribute the software in accordance with that licence. The licence text is included in the repository and available at gnu.org/licenses/agpl-3.0.

5. No warranty

Aaka is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The authors of Aaka shall not be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from your use of the software.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the authors or contributors of Aaka be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages (including loss of data, business interruption, or loss of profits) arising out of or in connection with your use of the software, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

7. Use restrictions

You agree not to use Aaka or this website to:

Violate any applicable law or regulation.
Infringe the privacy or rights of others.
Transmit harmful, unlawful, or abusive content.
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system or data.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the software or website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. Significant changes will be noted in the GitHub repository.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Germany.
